Joni
Welcome to the Trust Talk Sessions. I’m your host, Joni Advent Maher and I am delighted to welcome Claudia Parada to join us today. Claudia is returning, she was just here with us back in January on episode 089 which was on Inner Wisdom, Ancestors and Culture. So Claudia is a San Francisco Bay area native. She has completed her bachelor’s in Latinx studies and is currently working on her master’s in integral counseling, psychology and training in a humanistic approach to therapy.
And her passion is working with people of color to remember and reimagine the ways they heal together in today’s world. She has eight years of experience in holistic life coaching and five years of apprenticeship in Meso-American tradition to support her clients in uncovering their own inner wisdom around what health and healing mean for them. So welcome back Claudia.
Claudia
Thank you Joni. That was really lovely and it’s really nice to be back and it January feels like years.
Joni: I know. Like how many lifetimes have we lived in these last six months?
Claudia: It’s true. Mm hm
Joni: So, how is trust weaving through your world right now?
Claudia
Oh man. I just have to say I love this question. I have been sitting with it so intentionally and really what feels true is… looking at this is actually cause the new moon just passed. I’m just looking at how what are ways that I am cultivating trust in myself, the new ways that are being awakened in me now as we’re undergoing such, we, I, we are undergoing such a huge shift and transformation. How can I continue to engage the piece of myself, the pieces of myself that feel scared and are real and are there and then come forward with trust and faith and listening so I can bring the pieces of me into wholeness.
Joni: Yes. So how is that going? How’s it going for you?
Claudia
I’ll say, you know, it’s been, man, it’s been, it’s been quite, it’s been quite a time I’m in, I’m really having to face some pieces in shadow work, but then also in my relationship to my child and my relationship to my partner and my family, everybody’s like heightened in their, in their triggers and in their coping mechanisms. So it’s just all, all of the things are being lit up, if that makes sense. Like, all of our, all of our work in a sense is being lit up. So there’s been some challenging conversations, some tears, some tears but it’s really, I, I, they’re just, yeah. There can’t be light without the shadow I guess. So that’s how it feels for me. If you want, I could totally go into more detail, but overall how it’s been.
Joni
Yeah. If you, if you’re willing to share one piece or, or one because as you said, if this is happening for all of us and, and it does feel as though we’re in a bit of a pressure cooker and things are rising to the surface. So to the extent that you’re comfortable sharing perhaps one of those experiences, I’m sure there are listeners out there that would absolutely relate and perhaps get some comfort out of knowing they’re not alone.
Claudia
Absolutely. Yeah. One moment of many that were like this stand out in my mind and my partner and I were having a conversation one evening after the baby went to bed. And, we were talking about how are we showing up for one another? What is it that he wants or needs from me? And I just remember just saying to him, or like my, I was just feeling super activated in this conversation. I began to notice that I started to, like my voice started to go up and I started to become hot in my body and the things that he was saying were really bothering me and I kept pushing, like to resolve this issue. No, I need it to be this way. I needed to be, I need you to be here for me in this particular way. I felt so activated in this moment that I, I, my, my GoTo, my wounding is like, Oh my gosh, I just don’t see how this is going to work,
Joni: I hear you.
Claudia
which is terrifying. So I took a moment and I was like, I can’t do this anymore. So I walked away and I just told him I can’t talk about this with you right now. And I just went into our room and the lights were off cause the baby was asleep.
I just cried. I was just crying. I was like, wow, you know what? I’m even feeling emotional and tender as I’m recalling that moment right now because I just felt so tender. Wow. My wounding is here. It’s my little girl is here and she’s, she’s telling me, Hey, I feel alone. I feel out of control. I feel really scared. Can you be with me? Can you help me? I’m scared, and I was just like, you know what? I’m just going to feel, feel the feelings. It was really hard.
Joni
Yes, it is hard. It’s hard. It is hard feeling those tender, wounded places. And it feels good to, to have the support and to support them, but you’re right. It’s not easy.
Claudia
I thought I felt so and so of course, like as I was saying, my wound is, Oh, I’m alone and really like this trust and the trust in myself. I’m just thinking about this moment and thinking I in this moment I really only had myself, I really had only spirit to turn to.
Joni: Mm hmm
Claudia
I really just said, you know, I don’t know what’s going on here, but I’m just going to surrender. I really don’t know what to do. Yes.
Joni
Yeah. I so appreciate you sharing that because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in that particular, very spot of, I don’t know what to do here. I give up, but please help me Spirit. And, and then I’m assuming similar to my experience that things either soften or they shift or some light comes in that points the next step, points to the next step.
Claudia
Yeah. I will say to you like, I’m going through this process very quickly. I’m talking about right now the way that I’m explaining it, it’s happened very fast. But in the moment I had all of the feelings of all of the thoughts, all of the feelings of I’m alone. We’re going to get a divorce. This isn’t going to work. I don’t see how. It’s his fault. He’s not doing right. I’m so mad at him right now. Why is he like this? Why am I like this? So all of that to come up until I finally, all of the tears started to notice, Oh, I’m really, I’m really blaming him and giving him responsibility around something that is actually really mine and what I really want is support.
Joni: Mm.
Claudia: And connection.
Joni
Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Uh, well I, I love how you were able to lean in and just trust, like trust that unfolding. Trust your emotions and trust what was bubbling up.
Claudia: Thank you. It’s definitely hoof. It’s definitely hard.
Joni: Yes. Because when we know, when we know what we need, then we can ask for it.
Claudia: Mm hmm
Joni
Well, yeah, but when it’s just that big kind of emotional, everything swirling around, which you know, which it sometimes feels like we’re caught in this Whirlpool of intensity and emotion, then it’s hard to be a voice for what we need or what we want.
Claudia: Exactly.
Joni
Yes, yes, yes, yes. So thank you for sharing that, I really appreciate your willingness to go there with us because I’m sure every single person listening can relate.
Claudia
Ahh, I really appreciate you affirming that. Cause sometimes I’m like am I only one that’s going through this right now?
Joni
No, I forget who I heard say this, but there’s something like in any given moment, if you’re struggling or if you’re going through, you know, challenge similar to what you described or in any way that there are probably countless people around the world going through a similar feeling state at the exact same time.
Claudia
Yeah, that really resonates with me. I can definitely imagine that to be true, for sure.
Joni
Yes. Yes. So to the extent that we provide that love and support for ourselves it helps it, it kind of telegraphs out into the collective and lightens the load or opens the way for others to find their way through.
Claudia: I believe that too.
Joni
Yes. And those of us that are consciously working on ourselves, I think that is part of our service in addition to any other way that we’re supporting people.
Claudia
I agree with you. I was just feeling into that and thinking about, well, one of the things that I was thinking about is like how fire transforms and it feels like in not backing away and not, and you know, and whatever choice it is that anybody chooses to make, including myself around the intensity of an emotional experience is the right choice. In going into the fire, I feel like with people or now with my clients or now with my family and my loved ones, I’m like, Oh, you’re scared. Just like I was. That was a really hard place to be in. I’m going to stand there with you. I’m going to support you as best as I can.
Joni
Yes. And I see that as part of the leadership that we are holding, particularly with our loved ones and in our families because that’s where it starts. First with ourselves and being able to do it for ourselves and then holding the space for our loved ones and then we expand that and we take it out further into the world. So, that is so beautiful. Thank you. So Claudia, you have created an amazing gift for one of our lucky listeners and I would love to just have you share with us all the details of that.
Claudia
Absolutely. So I’m very excited and very excited to connect with you again. So I wanted to create something extra special for your listeners and one lucky listener. And so what I created is called the Divine Feminine Bundle. And in this is a personalized journey. Meditation is not personalized, but it’s going to be specially curated for this. And it’s a journey meditation recorded by me to awaken and strengthen the connection to your inner Divine Feminine. Yay. Accompanying that is going to be the Divine Feminine journaling worksheet. And so this is really to help support your journey process and also support opening your heart to your divine messages. And then in for me to also help support and really awaken and integrate this process. I’m offering a free 30 minute coaching call so we can go even deeper into some of the meanings that you’re making from the messages and help cultivate an understanding of how you want to move forward with them. So that is the Divine Feminine Bundle.
Joni
And for you, dear listeners, if you would like to have the opportunity to win that, all of the details are in the Facebook Group for this series, which is the Trust Talk Sessions, Facebook Group. So you can hop over there and find out how you can win. So Claudia as we bring this to a close, is there anything else that you feel called to share or name or say related to Trust before we wrap it up?
Claudia
Mm. I feel like what is most present for me right now is to share that at least what feels true for me is that trust has been, it changes and it transforms and that relationship that I have with it all the time. If I can just keep my heart in this place of knowing that the way that I’m cultivating that relationship with myself can transform that I find a little bit of ease and in that, and so I think that’s what I’ll offer.
Joni
Thank you. I love that. Yes. it’s, if there’s if this doesn’t feel good, the possibility is that more growth and change and shifting will bring something that feels even better. It sounds like that’s what I take away.
Claudia: Thank you. Yeah.
Joni: So thank you for being with us. It was such a joy to be with you again, Claudia.
Claudia
Thank you. Thank you for having me on again. This was such a pleasure always. That’s always wonderful to connect with you and your listeners.
Joni
Hmm. Thank you. And again, I want to urge you, if you haven’t listened to Claudia’s episode because she does quite a lot of sharing both about her healing work and her work with the ancestors and the roots in … In fact, it was the first episode of this year, 2020. her roots in central American healing culture. So it’s a wonderful episode that I highly recommend.
And I want to thank you, listeners, for being with us and taking this time and encourage you as always, to trust what your heart knows.
