The Crucible of Change

My Dear Sister, I’m coming to you from the crucible of change. This last month has been a rigorous but exquisitely orchestrated journey through my mother’s final days, the celebration of her life and the new frontier of life with her absence. More recently, it’s felt quite a bit like I’m tumbling through space without any moorings – unsure where I’ll land or who I’ll be when I get there. There’s no doubt this new unfolding will ultimately flower and bear fruit but for now I’m keeping things very simple. Impeccable self-care has been the order of the day. I listen closely to what my body, heart and Spirit need. Rest, healthy food, time outside and contact with friends are staples. I’ve cut out nonessentials and cut back on mindless time on social media. Its clear I’m in the midst of a total reworking of my relationships, roles and karmic threads with both parents; assisting the healing of my mother’s ancestral line; and going through a complete and utter transformation of Self. Having a regular practice of self care, reaching out for support and opening to the Sacred within and all around me has created a sense of ease and Grace through this very intense and sometimes challenging passage. It tenderized my heart and opened me to a larger stream of love. My family and I have been loved and supported in gorgeous and amazing ways throughout this journey. I am deeply grateful for all we have received and my ability to let it in wholeheartedly. I’ve been living what’s possible when we root deeply in our Sacred nature...

Video: What’s Your Next Right Step?

Hi There Love,   Do you ever find yourself pushing to make something happen only to get exhausted or caught up in a struggle?   Or do you get lost in indecision, stagnation or feeling stuck?   Opening to our Sacred Feminine flow is a subtle dance between resting (yes, it’s true!), deep listening, allowing energies to coalesce and build, taking inspired action and opening to receive. It’s a balanced blend of the Divine Feminine and Masculine working in concert to create our lives. Most of us have skills and ease with some and need to strengthen or cultivate the others.   I have a recent experience I’d like to share with you that illuminates the power of inspired action whose time has come.   So what is your next right step? Do you feel clear, confident and willing? When you trust your inner nudges and take those – big, small or baby – next right steps it creates a cascade affect that opens you to the fullness of your power and your flow. Sending you much love and blessings as you consider your next right step. Joni   PS. If your next right step is getting 1:1 support to shift some facet of your life, relationship, money or work in the world I am here to support you. Contact me here for a 30 minute clarity session. Sanctuary in the Storm

Hello My Dear, Are you having a full summer? Is life being kind to you? I’m at the start of two weeks away. A much needed trip to my favorite beach.   To be honest my summer has been plagued with uncertainty and Olympic levels of stress. One by one the pillars of my personal life have been shaken as I’ve watched each of those I hold most dear face terminal health issues or personal crises.   I’ve stood by and loved, listened, cared for, supported and came to recognize each of their fates was ultimately beyond my control. The ending of each of their stories was out of my hands. At times that feeling of powerlessness and uncertainty has felt brutal.   And other times absolutely absurd – just laughable – in it’s relentlessness and outrageousness. Like the day I was preparing to visit my mother with terminal cancer and father with dimenitia only to end up in the ER waiting to see if my husband’s chest pains were from indigestion or a heart attack. (Thankfully the former.) But that wasn’t clear until we sat in the unknown for a few hours waiting for test results.   At that point I was ready to pen a cease and desist letter to Universe. Like enough already!   At one time or another we all face seasons of stress, challenge or upheaval when it can feel like all we can do is show up and keep going as Life plays dodge ball with you.At those times it can be tempting to hunker down, engage our defenses and thicken our skin...

A video for you: Can you see the value and beauty within your own nature?

My Dear Sister, We each come to recognize the value and beauty of our Feminine nature in our own unique way. It’s my honor and delight to share my story with you through a recent conversation with my friend and colleague, Reba Linker. Reba, is perhaps like you, on her own journey of discovering the Divine Feminine. During our talk she had a powerful revelation about gravity that is sure to expand the way you look at the Feminine. It did for me. Even though we touched on a number of facets we were just getting started. It’s a conversation I would love to continue and I hope you’ll join me. As you watch, receive our Truth and notice what it stirs and awakens within you. We each transmit and birth a unique facet of the Sacred Feminine that touches all we reach. You can watch that process in real time as both Reba and I have new revelations. It’s really quite beautiful. I would love to hear what a-ha or Divine Feminine pearl our conversation awoke in you, please share below. ...

At the end of the day, what really matters to you?

My daughter and I are spending the week out of state with my aging parents.  It was an unplanned trip spurred by a sobering diagnosis my mother just received. I’m here arranging care and ongoing supports and being reminded of what really matters. I’m watching my mother grow more accepting of support. And quickly getting clearer and clearer of what she wants for her remaining time, which isn’t always popular with her loved ones. I feel waves of grief and sadness wash over me and I deeply appreciate this opportunity for my daughter to have candid conversations with her grandmother about life and living the final chapters on her own terms. We are having loving and tender moments as we enjoy the simple pleasure of Being together. At times I feel a flow of joy that shifts to sorrow and then back again. Watching my mother has highlighted the importance of knowing and honoring yourself so you don’t waste one day living someone else’s version of your life.    I have two events coming up later this month to support you in remembering and honoring what really matters to you and connecting with that wise Feminine Essence within you.   I am offering a Free 1 Hour Virtual Class: Open to Your Sacred Feminine Flow on Monday July 18th at 6:30 pm EST. Join me to relax and begin creating emotional and financial peace of mind.  Access your unique Feminine essence that guides you in claiming and nourishing what really matters to you.   To register click HERE On Friday July 29th, I will be joined here in Richmond by Molly Sharp,...

Are you managing the caregiving crunch?

Dear Sister, Are you in the midst of the sandwich generation crunch? Feeling the demands of caring for parents as well as your own children. Or feeling pulled between career demands and family’s needs.  Sometimes our care and commitments to others draws heavily on us.     I just returned home to my husband and daughter after time away with my aging, out of state parents. The most apparent factor on both ends of my trip was a deep need for my presence.   As I felt the great need coming at either end I experienced some momentary trepidation. It felt so big – like it might consume me. I took a deep breath and felt an inner shift and subsequent re-ordering of my priorities.  I came into alignment with my love for them, my desire to be of service and I set aside my personal agenda.   That’s one of the gifts of the Sacred Feminine – our ability to stop on a dime, assess what’s needed and give care.   Sometimes we choose self-sacrifice in response to other’s need. Not that we are the only gender capable of that but it is common ground for us as women. We naturally hold a consciousness that comes from our innate tendency to care for the young, old and frail in the human family.   This is not the first time I’ve been called to set aside my desires and agenda to care for a loved one.  Maybe you can you relate?    Six years ago I set aside my personal goals and desires to support my daughter through a...

Healing the Disempowered Feminine

I co-wrote this article with my soul sister and colleague Bland Tyree.   We all have patterns or issues that keep surfacing despite our best efforts to transform them.  They are often most noticeable during times of stress, transition, or when we want to step out in new directions.  When they arise it can stir up a lot of self- blame, anxiety, and frustration, all of which keep us in a tight knot of tension and contraction.   It is important to know that these places are more difficult to shift because they usually exist in a matrix that is much larger than our individual self, such as our family, our culture, the collective unconscious, and often our soul patterns.    As we, as women collectively inhabit our power and leadership in groundbreaking, new ways one matrix we frequently encounter is the energetic complex of the “Disempowered Feminine.”    The Disempowered Feminine holds the frozen energy of generations of women silenced, banished or destroyed for daring to own their power, wisdom and light. She holds the cultural and institutional limits that forbid women from holding property or positions of authority. She holds the trauma of “the burning times” when as many as a million women were tortured and burned at the stake for being healers or wise women.    You may personally experience her when you can’t speak up and use your voice, or doubt yourself and your ability. She’s there when you give your power away or you feel stuck and can’t take positive action on your behalf. She is present when you feel unworthy, can’t see your...

What I know today

“I know I can let go of past hurts. I know I can ride the wave of my emotions to a place called home – where my Truth is embraced and cherished – where my shadow is given a place at the table – where all of my parts and pieces may come together, integrate and be whole.”  Wendy Morgan We access profound wisdom and limitless power when we as women pause and remember what we know. We touch the great mystery that’s expressing through our bodies, hearts and lives. A circle of sisters gathered at our Sanctuary Day on Friday to remember what we know. Here are some excerpts of what we discovered. I invite you to receive them like a sacrament from the Sacred Feminine. Notice what they stir, resonate and awaken within you.   I know I have to let go of what I think I know. I know I need to take my power back yet also be kinder with myself and figure out how to ask for guidance. I know I have to find more outlets for my grief and not dwell on it for we are born dying. This is not easy since I’ve had no physical outlet. I know I can’t do it all today. I know I have to makes some choices – which are not easy – yet I have some tools. I know I need to speak my truth and not let others sway or blame me. I know I need to do this soon.  Patti Garvey     I know Wholeness. I know Health. I know how to...

You don’t have to be bulletproof to be worthy and powerful.

Dear Sister,   I have a special invitation for you and a story to share.   I was hiding under the covers last night as my soul sister and I had a heart to heart over the phone.  I had spent the afternoon stepping OUT, claiming my power and becoming more visible.  The vulnerability that followed drove me to the bed. Thankfully I had the wisdom to reach out.   As my soul sister and I talked she bathed me with love, support and affirmation. It was just what I needed for my body to relax and release the fear.   More than ever we as women are stepping out to use our voice, claim our wisdom and power – to SHINE.  But as we stop hiding and step OUT we invariably encounter places of vulnerability and fear. Given our age-old legacy of having been silenced, suppressed and sacrificed this is not surprising.    And yet the world needs our voices, our leadership and our light more than ever.  It is our modern day privilege and calling to break this legacy, transmute the fear and step OUT to SHINE.  To honor those who came before us and clear the way for those to come.   That truth was the foundation of my heart to heart last night as I took refuge under the covers. As soul sisters do, mine offered me some beautiful wisdom that I couldn’t wait to share with you.     She described how she had spent a lifetime overriding her fear and vulnerability to perform, achieve and claim a place of power in the world.  But...

What lies beyond I’m not enough?

Hello Love, I have a story for you.   Just imagine you’re on a journey through the woods. While there are many paths, you choose a well-worn one that leads to a clearing and then abruptly stops. You stand staring at a wall with a bolted gate.   The sign on the gate reads, I’m not Enough” and it stops you in your tracks.   You can see there’s a whole other world beyond the gate but you’re not sure how to get there. You backtrack into the woods and try another path but you discover it feeds into the same well-worn path that ends at the gate. You try again and again with the same result. Until it seems you’re stuck and you make yourself comfortable – or at least a little numb – and start to forget there’s anything beyond the gate of “I’m not Enough”.   Until one day the light breaks from beyond the gate and you feel a stirring of curiosity as you remember there’s a whole other world over there.   You start to dream what it could be like to dwell in that world, the one beyond, “I’m not Enough”.  You begin to: To recognize you were created to thrive.  To move with absolute confidence and freedom.  To feel loved, valued and appreciated exactly as you are. To express yourself fully and without the slightest reservation.   In your reverie you find a celebration on your behalf. Those gathered have waited a long time for your arrival and are delighted to tend to your every need. They see your unique essence and...
